Did you know...

•For each Parkinson’s patient, there is one person who has the disease who hasn’t been diagnosed and is unaware he or she is afflicted.

•Parkinson’s disease affects young people-- it is estimated 15% of all patients are under 50 years of age, 10% are under 40 years of age, and the disease occurs among teenagers.

Food Perspectives Fund Raiser
We are looking for people ages 18-65 that are willing to take part in a minimum of 2-3 taste tests per year. Tests are in a variety of locations and you will be asked to tests within a reasonable drive from your home. Day and evening times are offered for all tests. The tests you participate in are totally at your convenience. Each time a tester takes part in a study they receive a payment of $21 to $30 and PAM receives payment of $6 to $13.

If you (or someone you know) are interested in helping PAM by participating with Food Perspectives, please call the PAM office (763) 545-1272 to register.  If you were registered in the past as a taste tester for PAM, you may no longer be on the list.  Please call Jill at the office and verify whether you are still registered. Thank you!

Handicapped Parking
Anyone who has Parkinson’s disease and uses a cane or walker, or who tends to fall, is a candidate for a handicapped-parking sticker in Minnesota. Doctors may forget to ask, so if you are limiting your activities because “it’s too far to walk” from the parking lot, make sure that you ask! Many doctor’s offices have application forms. The doctor completes one part of the form, and the person requesting the sticker completes the other part and sends it to the Department of Motor Vehicles. There may or may not be a fee, depending on the situation. The doctor is required to comment on the form as to whether you are still able to drive despite your handicap. Contact the Department of Motor Vehicles, your primary care physician, or your neurologist for more information.
