Time and days: 10-11 a.m., Mondays. First-time participants are encouraged to attend orientation the first Monday of the month at 9:30 a.m.

Location: Bethesda Hospital, seventh floor conference room

Cost: $5 per session. First session is free for beginners. Attend seven, get the eighth session free! No charge for caregiver/carepartner.

Registration is required.

Tai Chi is a Chinese exercise of slow circular movements that help promote energy flow and a sense of well-being. This Tai Chi can be done standing or sitting in a chair. You will receive multiple benefits either way.

This Tai Chi class is designed especially for people with Parkinson’s disease. It is designed to help improve the following: balance, coordination, concentration, strength and mental well-being.

The class meets every Monday from 10 to 11 am, except for on holidays. New participants: please come the first Monday of the month at 9:30 am for orientation. Cost is $5 per session. Attend 7, get eighth session free. No charge for caregiver/carepartner. First session is free for beginners.

Mats are provided at this weekly Gentle Yoga class for people with Parkinson’s. The gentle poses are modified for the individual, although participants must be able to stand unassisted and have no significant blood pressure fluctuations as they change positions. Time and Days: Wednesdays from September 24-November 5, 9:30-10:30 a.m.

Location: Phalen Rec Center, 1000 Wheelock Parkway, St. Paul

Cost: $40/person

This beginning-level class is for those who are interested in learning T’ai Chi Chih, a relaxing meditation based on the Chinese philosophy of promoting vitality, longevity, inner peace, balance and joy. Experience more abundant health, relieve stress and heighten mind-body awareness.

Participants may perform the T’ai Chi Chih movements standing, seated or using a chair for balance. Wear comfortable clothing and flat, soft-soled shoes or heavy socks. This activity is co-sponsored by HealthEast Capistrant Center and is a Parkinson’s Friendly program.
